Cisco Routers Old vs New
jah8887
I am in the process of setting up a small service desk. So far it does not look like there will be more than 10 people at the most unless it grows. I already have a linksys 9300 setup with Comcast business class internet to them. The kicker is they deal with the gov't so I have to meet NIST requirements before an audit. I have had experience with the older Cisco routers and switches but I haven't tried out the new ones. Anyone have opinions on the new routers they have out there? I am in the process of looking for a 24 port switch for this business also and a firewall which I have looked at a few ASA's from Cisco such as the 5512-x series.

The new routers enforce licensing. In the past you could buy x router and get an IOS and just run it. Other than that they are much faster and are better to work with. Tons more features and way more bandwidth.
