AWS Associate Certs For Security Professionals

I am looking at becoming more familiar with AWS to assist me when working with our DevOps team. I am looking at either the AWS Certified Developer or the AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Can people shed some light on which they'd recommend and why? Is the difficulty of the exams similar? AWS will not be an operational responsibility but more to audit and make recommendations to our team.
