Should I take 401 or 501 exam

I have a voucher through my work and have the 401 exam scheduled for end March. I'm now wondering whether I should cancel the 401 and sit the 501 within same timescale. It seems a no brainer but I note that most still seem to be sitting the 401 currently. (And I'm also assuming that I can 'upgrade' to the more current exam). The 402 was the only exam available when I originally scheduled.

Any views appreciated. Thanks.

In truth, I doubt any employer will ask or check which exam you took. At least, I've never been asked in any interviews whether I took the older A+ or the newer one. Your cert is really just to get past the HR filter.
