A+ 901 and 902??
Good Evening,
I am planning on starting on my cert for A+ and thought there was one exam.
Is there actually 2? 901 and 902, if so does this mean the exam cost is $205 x 2??
If so also what about certmaster? I was going to try that because they have a good deal for that and 2 attempts for 299...
any info would be much helpful!
Thanks
Jay Thomas

Yes there are 2 exams and thats 205x2. And from reading the Certmaster website, it seems their bundle deal is only for 1 voucher for 300 (and their included study material etc etc). I think you'd be better off on your own. A lot of people (including myself) used Exam Cram by David Prowse. And of course Professor Messer on youtube as his material is free. I'm aiming to take my test the last week of Jan and this is what I'm using. And varies testing websites: Examcompass, crucialexams -

I found CertMaster to be a lot less useful with Network+ and Security+.Certifications: A+, N+, S+, CCNA: CyberOps, eJPT, ITIL, etc.

Each exam objective list signifies a separate exam which you must pay for;
https://certification.comptia.org/docs/default-source/exam-objectives/comptia-a-220-901-exam-objectives.pdf
https://certification.comptia.org/docs/default-source/exam-objectives/comptia-a-220-902-exam-objectives.pdf
Make sure you know everything on the exam objectives, and I'd also recommend doing the practice questions provided by CompTIA as they are very similar to the ones on the exam;
https://certification.comptia.org/training/practice-questions/comptia-a-901-practice-questions
https://certification.comptia.org/training/practice-questions/comptia-a-902-practice-questions
CertMaster is a bit expensive in my opinion, although I have never used it and not needed to in order to pass the exams. However, that is not to say you shouldn't try it!
The materials I used to study and pass both tests are as follows;
Professor Messer's videos that are free on YouTube - very worthy of your time.
Measure-Up practice tests - questions are harder than on the actual exam and provide a detailed explanation for each question/answer, very good training material.
CBT Nuggets - 220-901 and 220-902 course.
PluralSight's 220-901 and 220-902 course.
I'd recommend watching Professor Messer's videos, buying a good book and definitely getting some good practice tests - they will give you an idea of what to look out for when studying in relation to the questions asked.
One final piece of advice is to take the 220-901 and 220-902 on separate months. You should prioritise studying for one exam first. And I would certainly advise you briefly touch on all objectives on the 902 before taking your first exam (which should be 901), there could definitely be some material that crosses over between the two exams.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more queries. -
jst688 Registered Users Posts: 5 ■□□□□□□□□□okay! Thanks for all the advice. I wish CompTIA was a bit more transparent about it. From their website it looks as if there is one test only.
I am going to start on the videos, and get the exam cram books. For the first test I am going to get the certmaster for the bundle because I can get that for 299 and it gives me one free retake (if I need it since I really don't know what to expect on the exam) the $99 insurance might be good!
Thanks for all the info! -
