Cisco 2811 & 2821

Hi All,

I have recently purchased 2 routers(2811 & 2821). Now I'm trying to install Ios in 2811 and getting these error.

512mb ram and 128mb flash (c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M12a.bin) Unable to install this one. Tried another Ios failed to do so. I appreciate your help. I don't have much money all I spent to purchase these routers.

On each system perform at the rommon prompt do a: dir flash: <- you got to have the colon

rommon 7 > dir flash <- this will always give an error. There is no device named flash. it is flash:.

report back with that information and we can go from there. But, it looks like you are tftp'ing a corrupted ios file. Get another ios .bin file.

that is good information. But, the information I was looking for is what the router sees as the size of the CF. Not the size that is written on the outside of the card.

there should be size information at the end of the output of the dir flash: command. That is what i'm looking to see.

Being you can read what files are on the CF is a good sign. Still doesn't mean that the file isn't corrupted. at least check that the ios file on you computer is the same size as the size from where you got it. Then check that the size on the CF matches that on your computer.

Then, there might be a bad connection between the CF reader and the router ram. Open the router. There is a ribbon cable connecting the CF reader to the router system board. Pull it off and reattach it. Pull the ram from the dimm slots and reseat it. Maybe a few times to be sure the connection is good.

This command only showing the available ios in rommon mode. I have used the same CF in 1841 and uploaded the ios c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M12a.bin. Boot the ios and working absolutely fine.

1- unplug that ribbon thing in 2800 and plug it back.
2- Dram take it out and fixed it back.
3- Removed PVDM and all modules like vwic-2mft and Bri card.
4- Also format the CF through 1841 (128 mb).
5-Dir flash command is working in 1841 and also shows the available size.
