I drove up to Ginna, just east of Rochester, NY Wednesday (7 hour drive) and interviewed Thursday, they offered the position (Technical Analyst) today after I arrived back home (another 8 hour drive back). I verbally accepted, it's a 14% raise for me, and 15% bonus target instead of 10% a year. They want me to start April 30th, I asked about a relocation package, but they have to get someone to authorize that, so I'm not officially signing till I see what they come up with, even 5K would be helpful. Flying up next week on the companies dime to look at places to rent. The job is a bit overwhelming, both the network guy and cyber security guy left within a few weeks of each other and I'll be responsible for all of it. They hired someone to help with the network, but they didn't start yet and he's an outside hire, so he will not even be allowed to touch anything till he completes the company's IT procedures training. The former network guy started his new position, but was able to come in and show me the network on Thursday, they have a lot of systems I don't have where I work, it's going to be a challenge to get up to speed. Fortunately he's still with the company, just in another division, but the cyber guy is leaving the company entirely, so I will not be able to call him up for questions.
Still searching for the corner in a round room.

Talking to the guys there, the worse of the snow is right near the lake. The snow totals drop off significantly 5 or 10 miles from the lake. I'm also told the Buffalo and Oswego tend to get more snow being on either end of the lake than Rochester. If I absolutely hate it, I'll stick it out for two years, long enough to get my retention bonuses and find something outside the company in a much warmer climate. If I leave before two years, I'll have to pay back the relocation package, so I'm stuck till at least then. The network guy AND the security guy left and you're replacing both of them as a technical analyst? That's the same title at all the plants for the position and responsibility. I can of course reach out for help, but Ill be the one at the location 3 am when the network is down, on the phone with support.Still searching for the corner in a round room. -

Any chance you can get multipliers on the bonus, double etc? When the company performs well. -

Yes, this years bonuses were between 114% and 117% depending on your site location, so if say your salary was 50k and your bonus is normally 10% of your salary, your target would have been $5,000 bonus, but because the company did well, at 117% your bonus was $5,850. There's other factors that affect your bonus as well, such as your evaluation rating, it's a complicated formula that no one outside HR understands. One year I got 12k bonus, because of a great performance evaluation rating and the company did well, it should have only been $7,500 normally that year.
It's a step up from my days working at a casino when the yearly bonus was a $100 Shoprite gift card.Still searching for the corner in a round room. -
DatabaseHead Member Posts: 2,754 ■■■■■■■■■■Good to hear. We cap at 300%, which is nice. I'm at 15% bonus off of gross and we hit just at 200%. It paid for the roof on my house...... Cash.
Anyway congrats again good stuff. -
