I've noticed some companies write "bs in computer science required" but no "or in related field" for IT jobs. Are they serious about that? Or will they accept a bs in IT?

They will or accept 10 years of experience...

I've learned to just apply for anything at this point you think you're qualified for from an experience point of view. The "minimum qualifications" is total bullshit in most cases and they do it just to scare away those with zero experience. I was recently cold called to apply for a job that I specifically didn't apply for because it said "Master's REQUIRED" and they said my resume was in the top 10 out of the more than 100 they received and I didn't even apply so they wanted to know if I'd formally apply. Absolutely.
I won't make that mistake again.

I don't know if I would say min quals are total BS. What matters is the package you present to your potential employer.
