I've noticed some companies write "bs in computer science required" but no "or in related field" for IT jobs. Are they serious about that? Or will they accept a bs in IT?

The "minimum qualifications" is total bullshit in most cases and they do it just to scare away those with zero experience. I was recently cold called to apply for a job that I specifically didn't apply for because it said "Master's REQUIRED" and they said my resume was in the top 10 out of the more than 100 they received and I didn't even apply so they wanted to know if I'd formally apply. Absolutely.
