GIAC Test - What to Expect? (SEC542)

Hi everyone, I'm planning to take my SEC542 GIAC certification soon and was just had a few quick questions for those that have gone through this process about what to expect.

1. Is the real exam multiple choice like the practice exams or will there be free-form text fields with more complex answers to fill out? (eg: proper command syntax, code, or expected output)
2. Is there any overlap between the practice exams and the real exam?

I suppose my question is I would like to know how well the practice exams are in gauging how well I will perform in the final.

I haven't taken SEC542 but all the other practice exams are the same format and level of difficulty as the actual exam. As far as overlap I'm not sure there is overlap so much as there are very similar questions. Think of it as a math problem where the question is 2 (8+4) + (9*2) = x. The numbers will be different on the exams.
