Pay Ranges and Preferred Qualifications

I have a quick question about preferred qualifications and pay scales on job ads. Are people generally offered more money, closer to the middle point of the pay scale, if someone checks off more boxes on required and preferred qualifications?

There's little to no connection. You'll find that you meet most/all of a highly-specific job posting but they offer you dog kibble because that's what the company budgeted for. Then you'll find you meet most-ish of a posting and they'll offer you more. I find that it's less about the skills and more about the personal connection in the interview.
