CCNA LAB taking up a lot of electricity?
routingbyrumor
Hi! I currenty have a stack of of 7 2500 series routers including a 2511 access server to reach all of them. I also have a 2950 12 port switch, 2924 24 port switch, and a 1924 switch. My question is if I power all these babies up at once and perform labs will my electric bill take a huge toll. This question is for those who run labs at home do you have high electric bills?

Do the maths! each router or switch uses about 50Watts an hour, a decent light bulb uses 100 Watts, so you have 10 devices 500 Watts per hr, 1 kilowatt hrs costs? depends where you live, lets say 15cents an hour, your lab costs you about 8 cents an hour to run.
The cost will be high if you run 24 7, apart from that i wouldnt worry,my shower uses 2500 watts an hour and sometimes i leave it on all night, do i worry nah!
lordy
From my experience the 2501 and 2503 take even less (around 25 Watts).
If you have a huge plasma TV it's probably more expensive to watch TV then to work with the Lab
