who converge faster ???
eng_ahmedas
Hi all
i wish u r all in a good health. I wish u could help understanding something. I read in the ccna material that IGRP converge faster than RIP. Is that true ???? and if it is true , how could this happens although all timers of RIP smaller than that of IGRP ???
RIP Timers (Update = 30s,Invalid = 180s , Holddown = 180s, Flush=240s IGRP Timers(Update = 90s,Invalid =270s , Holddown = 280s, Flush=630s)
Thanks in advance

Both RIP and RIP2 base the optimal route selection on the number of hops. IGPR enhances this by incorporating bandwidth, delay, reliability and load and MTU.

Click on the link, im sure the info there will help you. Basically it all goes down to the fact that IGRP uses a better calculation when converging. Even though it still uses hop count as a metric.
