question about job application
DoubleD
I am updating my resume so I can apply for a job. My question is about how should I put my current job on my resume? At work we have 6 Servers Two physical Severs and 4 Virtual Servers. So Should I write we have two Servers and four virtual servers or should I just write that we have 6 Servers or should I write that we have 6 servers including 4 virtual servers? What would be the best way to put it onto my resume?

Don't list the number or the type unless it's large for the task you're doing. Instead, focus on the tasks and technologies supported. As a hiring manager, I don't differentiate between effectively doing to task for 1 server vs 10 vs 20. If you can do the task, you can do the task.

I second that. Unless the job posting asks for a specific number (and most of time I ever seen it do so, it has been specifying an enterprise network with at least x number of users, rather than number of servers/switches/routers), and even then that's something for the cover letter.
I personally count virtual servers and physical servers the same, unless you are asked and asked in a differentiate from them, I would count it as 10. But again, don't put that on your resume, just mentioned it only if you are asked.

Agreed with excluding the number of servers if it's a small setup. My main task is desinging, configuring, installing and load testing on a simulated environment with about 28 total servers, virtual and hardware combined, and I wouldn't list down those exact numbers. Now, I'd mention that I simulated load levels on the environment of 30,000 simulataneous users to measure performance and code limitations. If it's a number that can impress someone, then yes, otherwise I'd just stick to the tasks.
