SOC AKA System Operations Center?
DatabaseHead
I've seen the SOC referred to as the System Operations Center several times recently. Is this similar to a NOC or the Security version of the SOC? Possible this is it's own thing?
Just curious if you have a minute to reply.
Thanks

I've never heard it as anything other than a security operations center. Has it been only within your own company? If so I know plenty of times I've seen someone higher up use a made up term and everyone else starts saying it to blend in.

I worked in a SOC (Systems Operations Center) and honestly it dealt with pretty much everything from Systems, networks, security as well as batch processing of financial transactions in my old companies case. Honestly 99% of the time it all depends on the company what they want the name to mean and duties to be.

Here is one for you SIOC... Strategic info and operations center is what the FBI calls it. Or I have seen it called Security, Intel Ops Center in the civilian world. Or here is another SNOC. Security network ops center seen those to.

In my case, we simply refer to them as Operations Center (OC), but we do have a separate Security Operations Center (SOC) and Network Teams.
