I took and passed the GCIH in 2012 and I still have my old books for them, is it possible to still pass the current test with the old materials? Has there been a lot of changes since then?

I can't speak for it from 2012 but I know they update the material often, in some cases a few times a year. Going back 6 years it's probably drastically different.

Holy crap 2012! That’s quite a gamble given the cost of the exam. I wouldn’t do it.

Obtain a practice exam and see how you do using the 2012 material. Assuming that you have been in an incident handler role for the past few years you might be able to pass using your experience without referencing the books or an index.
