How to perform a PenTest for USB Device Server?

Does anbody know how to perform a PenTest for a USB Device Server?

Which tools should be used and which methodology could be adopted when performing the PenTest?
Please point me with links to the appropriate information about this matter (if possible).
Any suggestions or hints are much appreciated.

I'd start with a port scan if it's connected to ethernet. Identify services running, see if there are any know vulns/exploits. If no vulns, learn what protocol the server speaks and attempt to mimic the protocol to abuse it.
