How is IT in Tampa?

Good morning everyone,

My family has been seriously considering a move to Tampa. We are currently in Houston, which while it is a great city traffic is a nightmare. Commuting 3 hours a day is not something I'm interested in. We visited friends in the Tampa area in January and liked the area and atmosphere (feels very midwestern which we like). IT jobs look to be plentiful out there unless I am missing something. Just looking for some advice if there are any pitfalls I haven't seen relating to the IT  job market out there. Our friends say it's a good job market and I haven't been able to see anything contradicting that.

Lots of tech in the Temple Terrace area near USF, which is also a decent university for a cybersecurity education. Checked LinkedIn for opportunities in specific geographical areas.

Tampa is one of the hottest places for IT in Florida. I live further south around a hour a way from Sarasota and I'm attempting to convince my wife to move to Tampa.

We found it to be a beautiful place. The real benefit was the ability to work in Clearwater, St. Pete, Oldsmar or Tampa and not be killed by commuting an hour. In general the Westchase or Oldsmar area is where we've looked for living which is pretty central. The opportunities seem really good but it's nice to hear that it's a good market because looks can be deceiving at times.
