SSCP Experience Requirements
Fulcrum45
I've configured and installed firewalls working for MSPs and worked as a Service Desk/ Network Admin in extremely secure locations for the DoD (2 years cumulative) thus adhering to some pretty stringent security standards. Would any of this count? I've read the ISC2 definition on their website but it seems a bit vague. Perhaps by design. I would like to ultimately make my way up to a CISSP level but I'm curious to know what real world experience example they look for.

One year required experience in one domain. I'd say you've most likely got that covered.

(And the experience requirement can be fulfilled by having a degree in IT as well)

Also realize that once you pass the SSCP exam you need someone who is "in good standing with the (ISC)2" to endorse you, which will include verifying your professional work history. If you don't know someone who fits these prerequisites you can request the (ISC)2 perform your endorsement.

Thanks, guys.
@JDMurray
yeah, I figured I would have to go that route. I know a few folks who are current CISSPs but no one who can actually vouch for me.

I would say that with a normal-looking resume nobody will challenge your declaration of having "at least one year of IT experience."
