Changing bulk .lnk target path to new one on domain pcs

I am currently in the process of migrating my file server to another file server.  Each pc has a bunch of shortcuts pointing to the old server, example \\oldserver\folder\file under the C:\Users .  I have looked into scripting something to change all of these target paths from \\oldserver\folder\file to \\newserver\folder\file with no luck.  I am not the best when it comes to scripting but was hoping someone had some recommendations from past or previous experience doing a file server migration.  We are migrating from a Windows Server 2012 R2 file server to a Windows Server 2016 Standard file server with Windows 7 domain pcs currently on the network.
