UAE Remote Workers residency visa

For anyone who wants to work or live in the UAE, if your job is done 100% remotely, you could self sponsor a resident visa as a remote worker. I presume this would require one's job not have any regular office visits, and there would not be any standard expatriate benefit packages (housing/transportation/flights), just your current salary and benefits. Also, your current health insurance may not be valid in the UAE.
On the other hand, your income could be tax free as you would be a legal resident of the UAE and you won't need anyone to sponsor you. You can find decent, inexpensive apartments in the major cities. If you don't need the glamor of Dubai or the UAE, the other five emirates are like sleepy towns with good housing prices, but Sharjah is still a dry emirate (no alcohol). With expats always leaving, you can find great deals on good cars if you need one. Anyway, since many tech jobs are remote work, I thought I would share this with my TE peers.
