Do I need real world experience to understand the concepts of Networking to Pass the + exam?

I don't have any real-world experience with networking, but having taken a college course and I am currently taking an exam prep course online. I seem to be able to memorize the concepts and terms but struggle with applying what I've learned to IRL scenarios. My question is it possible to thoroughly understand the concepts of networking without having experience creating or working on them?

    you can and should be able to understand things and the theory behind everything. IF you're struggling with that try to google the things that you're stuck with, you will find tons of free videos/articles that explain things, specially basic networking concepts.
