Weekend work

I have done moves, add/changes for a team in the financial company years ago. I have kept the manager's number. How should I approach him expressing interest in doing weekend work again without going through my recruiter?

Depend on your relation...but usually simple and direct work the best. Why overcomplicate things?

I would contact the hiring manager directly and ask. If you are interested in applying for the position, you will need to go through the recruiter anyway, but having some a priori info from the hiring manager is a good thing to help your chances.
