Getting started in Linux?

My career has taken me from a basic windows sysadmin at a helpdesk to senior ISSO for a DoD organization. Along the way I have become a lot less technical and more administrative with information security. Now I want to get back into more technical with AWS. What does everyone recommend for learning basic Linux administration? Looking for something that has hands on labs to get experience. Not looking to become a Linux expert I just believe it is a foundational skill to get into AWS.

Linux (and Windows) are OSes that can run in AWS EC2 instances, but knowing Linux (or Windows) is not necessary to use AWS. (I've heard that more customer EC2 VMs on AWS are running Windows rather than Linux/UNIX.)

All that being said, sign up for an account on the AWS Free Tier and start working through the free learning on AWS. Also have a look at the AWS certifications to get an idea of all the stuff to learn about admin'ing, architecting, and programming for AWS.

I would suggest starting with learning the AWS Billing service and understand at what point AWS will begin to charge your credit card. Consider switching to Azure Free or GCP Free when you realize how expensive AWS can be.
