in CCNA & CCENT
Passed my exam today...geblahhhh yeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!
alright just some tips...
study, study, study sounds obvious but the CCNA exam isnt really that hard
having said that its not that easy either, but its tricky with the most obvious answer usually not the correct one and with that in mind it really is designed to test understanding rather then the overnight cram session type of knowledge, so be warned...
I found that all the topics covered in the CCNA text book featured in the test, but in particular:
1 switch configuration,vlan,VTP,STP
2 A proper understanding of the role of MAC addressing
on ethernet networks as well as IP addressing
3 difference between link-state and distance vector routing
4 WAN technologies frame-relay,ISDN and PPP
5 LAN technologies in particular OSPF,EIGRP but a basic
knowledge of RIP in general is essential and will also assist
your understanding of point 3
6 subnetting and ACLs -- make sure you can do this and quick
know VLSM,CIDR, know broadcast address, host address,
subnet or network address etc.
Be aware that when you answer a question and click on next you cannot go back.
be aware of the time which is 90mins I had a total of 56 questions with two simulations inclusive and the time went by like that...its hard to know what to say here because you really need to read the question carefully and understand what the question is asking before you select an answer but from time to time do check the counter
Get some hands on expierience with some switching or routing equipment preferably cisco, router simulators are good but the IOS commands are limited...
alright just one more yeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh check ya l8er...
