Hi,

We were reading about CIDR but couldnt find any information about the explanation.

Does anybody know how it exactly works?

Thanks in advance.

It simply means that the IP address(s) are divided into the network part and the host part based on their subnet mask, and doesn't rely on the address class. Pertains mostly to routing where the router doesn't care what class the address is, it is going to go by the mask.

This lends itself to the ability to handle supernetting, routing summaries, and variable length subnet masks (VLSM).
