Irk! Forgot my Ubuntu password :o
Yeah, I haven't used it in a while so I've completely forgotten my password. I'm sure I have it written down somewhere or I could probably crack it with knoppix, but I don't have access to those things at the moment.
I think when I installed it, I was just using the root with a simple password for testing purposes. Is there a default name for root or a default/common password used on new installations? I'm brainstorming, in an attempt to remember...because none of the passwords I use in my daily life have worked. I already tried root, admin and my name as the username.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,101 AdminThere is no default password for root on ubuntu Linux. You create a user password when you install ubuntu, and set the root password using sudo passwd root or sudo -s while logged in as the user. For actually recovering passwords, try ubuntu's support at http://www.ubuntu.com/support.
