Difference between 3524 and 3550

Im thinking of purchasing a 3524 with 1 Gigabit uplink for $200 but I noticed that a 3550 cost about 800 bucks extra. Is there a difference between these two switches, and is it sufficient for the CCNP study if I do go with the 3524.
