itdaddyitdaddy Member Posts: 2,089 ■■■■□□□□□□
hey gurus

this is a hairy one.

i have a mapped drive that shows up in XP as
Disconnected mapped drive. and when i click on it it is mapped to a
folder ona another server. but when i try to disconnect it, it says
mapped drive not found. i have rights to it (full)
wtf mates!
i have try the net use (drive letter): /delete but says not found and the HELP comes up in the command environment.

i have looked in the persistent location in HKLU and no avail!
some one say delete my profile but that is cheesy and and i dont want to loose my setting; where is it loadingthe old mapped drive??

Make sure it is not replicating from another server.

I mean use the wildcard * to delete all mapped drives, not just the one drive letter, since you get a drive not found error.

    net use * /delete
All things are possible, only believe.

I take it net use (no parameters ) shows the drive mapping?

I commend you for looking in the registry for the persistent mapping. This is indeed interesting.

Does another user with a brand new profile also show this mapping? If so, then it may be a computer mapping rather than user.
    Any GPOs involved?

    Hey all.
Here is an experience which may lead to the answer.

I had the same problem at work one time.
The situation was that I had 2 drives mapped to different areas of a server.

Once I got rid of another one I was able to get rid of all. So i would just check to see if you have others map and delete and remap all.

Could be group policy. Also get on the server and dissconnect your session and reboot.

Yup, now that you mention it, I remember that happening once too.

I know this happens when you have a drive mapped as admin and the password changes or your user rights change.

i think it policy; we have been having slow logons lately
due to DNS server reconfig(reconfk%P) and i have done a result policy
on my PC and noticed security faiure. but finally i saw the drive name came(label)returned and no long does it say Disconnected Drive
i then disconnected it and walla gone
    thanks guys
butu i think you are right bad policy and finally restored and was able to delete it.
    tanx for all your help
