STP Q
mzinz
This one really bugged me. There were about 5 answers, but the obvious one had to be one of these.
The purpose of STP is:
B. The prevent routing loops.
A. To ensure a loop-free layer 2 topology.
I put B on my test, but wasn't completely sure. The answers are so much alike it really frustrated me =/

Answer is A, routing is layer 3,switching uses spanning tree at layer 2.

For a second there, I considered both answers nearly the same. Until I flagged the word ROUTING in my mind. Switches don't route.

split horizon is used to
prevent routing loops on RIP
..for example (layer 3)

Split Horizon by itself does not stop routing loops - it paired with Route Posoining and Hold Down Timers are what allow RIP to prevent routing loops.
