This one really bugged me. There were about 5 answers, but the obvious one had to be one of these.
The purpose of STP is:
B. The prevent routing loops.
A. To ensure a loop-free layer 2 topology.
I put B on my test, but wasn't completely sure. The answers are so much alike it really frustrated me =/

Danman32 Member Posts: 1,243For a second there, I considered both answers nearly the same. Until I flagged the word ROUTING in my mind. Switches don't route.

split horizon is used to prevent routing loops on RIP ..for example (layer 3) -
bmauro Member Posts: 307Split Horizon by itself does not stop routing loops - it paired with Route Posoining and Hold Down Timers are what allow RIP to prevent routing loops.
