Happy 40th Birthday to Star Trek!

Star Trek debuted in the United States on NBC on September 8, 1966. I barely remember watching the original run back in the 1960's; it has certainly been a big part of my imagination since.

And to think, Shatner's hairpiece has survived for four decades. . . icon_cool.gif

As a big fan of the Star Trek universe, (having learned some surprisingly valuable life-lessons from the likes of Spock and Picard,) I can honestly say that I hope these first forty years are the initial baby-steps in a long, long lifetime for these shows and movies.

"Of course not, Number One. With any luck, they'll be far more exciting."

I really liked that original run of Star Trek. Never much got into the later series, though the couple I saw were okay. The biggest lesson I learned from the Star Trek episodes was this:

The interesting thing was the later series that referred back to the time period of the original series or even further back than that. The original series had simple costumes, props and effects, whereas the later ones had better ones, so when referring back to previous time seemed out of place.

Notice Ensign Ricky's gold has been removed from his arms. That is a sure sign of a demotion. Alien monsters are are afraid of gold on your arms and attracted by red. icon_lol.gif
