When will Microsoft start doing the mcsa/mcse 2007

If server 2007 is supposed to come out next year when will MSFT discontinue the 2003 exams and start pitchin the 2007 exams?

You know some certification will never ( or in this near future ) disapear , coz there be some network's using 2000 server or 2003 for a long time after 2007 version apeaer.So ..

There will never be any MCSA/MCSE 2007 exams. The 2003 version is the last. See here for more info.

The new path is going to be Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP), and the Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA).

The MCTS is going to be the MCSA equivalent. The MCITP is along the bredth of MCSE, and the MCA is, supposedly, supposed to be at the same level, network-admin wise, as the CCIE. How it all turns out, we have yet to see.

from my understand the people who are currently MCSA or MCSE will have an option to do an upgrade exam to MCITP for there chosen area for example... MCITP Systems Adminsitrator (equal to the old mcsa) MCITP Systems Engineer (equal to the old mcse). THis is how I have understood it all anyway. I have noticed the MCITP Database admin cert is avaible and its this I have built my logic on in explaining the above, please correct me if I am wrong.

Yup. As MS says,

MCSE, MCSA, or MCDST? You do not need to do anything at this point. When Microsoft releases the next version of the Microsoft Windows client and server products, the new credentials will follow the new structure with a Technology and Professional series. MCSEs, MCSAs, and MCDSTs will be offered an upgrade path to the new credentials.

Hmmmm...MCA will cost around 10,000.....I don't see that anytime soon, or probably ever.....I think this may, just may weed out some of the jackasses who truly don't belong in IT, but take away jobs from people who do.....but still, probably not.....

(a) MCTS: Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server Configuration

so could someone clarify this for me? the current breed of mcsa/mcse will be given an upgrade path to its equivelant in the new batch of certs? so if your an mcse 2k3 then it will (possibly) take the 2 exams to get you to the 2008 certs like it does from 2000 to 2003?

i just want abit clarification because im going for the mcse in 2k3 but if i had to take loads more exams to go up the next level i would have to rethink maybe?

Read the MCP site. It fully clarifies what the current intended plan is. Nobody should be posting upgrade plans on these forums as these forums are for public viewing. Microsoft posted the current beta details about what the current upgrade process will look like privately on their MCP site which requires a log in for a reason. So again, go read the MCP site for clarification.

There is a similar thread here, anyway here's the info that I posted

Windows Server 2007 will now be Windows Server 2008, the MCSE/MCSA track will only go up to Windows Server 2003 R2 (plus what ever service packs they release. These are the new equivalents (give or take):

Old -> New -> Upgrade Exam
MCSE 2k3 -> MCITP Enterprise Administrator -> 71-649 or the 70-649 (71 means beta, 70 means standard/normal exam)
MCSA 2k3 -> MCITP Server Administrator -> 71-648 or the 70-648 (71 means beta, 70 means standard/normal exam)

New to this board, so hi all

Microsoft posted some upgrade information from 2003 to 2008 on the 1st June, available here:

The info that I posted was not from a secure site! It was was Microsoft Communications. See here: http://blogs.msdn.com/trika/archive/2007/05/18/ws2003-ws2008-betas-at-teched-orlando.aspx (and that's just one of the web addresses) and it was released on the 18th of May. If you actually check out Trika's blogs regularly you will normally get info alot faster then on the MCP secure site.
