Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModA good firewall can block that type of scan. Something like Sygate Personal Firewall Pro, for example, with the "Stealth Mode Browsing" option enabled. Basically, it simply doesn't respond to header requests when probing for what browser, probing for what OS, etc. (Can't block your IP, though. You'd need a proxy for that.)

It probably uses the REMOTE_ADDR environment variable. Here are some example for use in SSI, but the env vars can be used in php, cgi and other web pages as well:

wow, does it really work ?. any problems while using yahoo beta or any site which provides browser specific contents ? -

You won't get the custom content. Other sites have issues with it, as well, such as Microsoft Update. If you browse to it, even in IE, while you're in stealth mode, the site will report that you're not using a Windows machine.
