Are there any programming language certs? Could I for instance, become a certified C++ or VB programmer?

certainly you can: MCSD

or: MCAD

and closely related: MCDBA

The Visual Studio 6 track is being discontinued by MS as of june next year. and yes.... MCDBA goes perfectly well with MCSD. Infact, you can cross cancel some exams between the two certs, so that might leave u with 6 or 7 exams for both certs.
