I'd say "luck of the draw" -- but in this case you were unlucky.

    Old exam blueprint:
    # Describe and configure PPPoE, PPPoA, and RFC 1483/2684 Bridging
    Replacement exam (ISCW) blueprint:
    # Configure ADSL (i.e., PPPoE or PPPoA).

So it isn't going away anytime soon.

The A in the PPPoA is ATM -- which might be useful to know for the CCIP, but this (or the replacement exam) aren't requirements for the CCIP. So I guess we have to blame it on corporate SOHO routers for work-at-home employees with DSL. icon_lol.gif

A 10,000 foot view of ATM (and PVCs and VPI/VCI) might help, along with a PPPoA configuration sample/example for a SOHO router (like that 827). I had lots of ATM experience, so it was only that dinky configuration that I needed to memorize.

This is the reason i say bcran is the most difficult to study for, they can throw anything at you.Use cisco.com and study the different config options for dsl and cable modems.
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

do you know any resources where i could see the output of various show commands relating to ATM PVCs and VPI/VCI's and actually have the output explained?
    Thanks!

the examcram bcran book does that...lays it all out for you

at least I'm pretty sure that's the one; I think the Sybex CCNP Complete does it as well
