9. Which of the two routers depicted in the following point-to-point network diagram will be elected DR?
a. RouterA
b. RouterB
c. The router with the highest priority
d. The router with priority 0
e. Neither
why is the answer neither ? i know from book it says
in multi-access networks dr elected and point-to-point
and point-to-multipoint networks dr electing is not needed .
ok but what is the difference between point-to-multipoint
and broadcast(multi-access)?
i think both of them has multi destinations and routers for elect
so why don't we elect in multi-access networks?

As you read in the books: Point-to-Point or Point-to-multipoint don't require a Designated Router so the answer to your question is "neither". -
agustinchernitsky Member Posts: 299Well... to become neibours:
1.- They must be in the same Area
2.- OSPF must be advertizing the networks
3.- The same Hello and dead intervals must be used.
Regarding the question, both routers seem to be in different networks... now, if both routers were on the same network (they could communicate), and they were advertized... then, router A would be DR. If the link between them was a PTP, none. if it was a NBMA, you requiere sepacial config. -
Humper Member Posts: 647PPP / Point to Multipoint do not not elect DR/BDR, whereas BMA networks such as Ethernet require a DR/BDR. Read your books. Now working full time!

Why read a book or search the official Cisco documentation when you can post in here and demand everybody answer your questions?

No one demands nothing from no one here. And this is not a Cisco (or whatever) training site or company... its a forum... And the concept of it is (or should be / or at least I understand it as) read and prepare for your cert using whatever media or way you like, and if you have doubts, do post them.
This a support for your exams... not a training site. -

Sorry my english wasn't clear
I meant: You don't demand an answer, you just hope someone has an idea of what you are asking and he is gently enough to answer your question... -
