IN ROUTER THEY HAVE OSPF , TO EXTEND OSPF , I TYPE
router(config)#:interface loopback 0
router(config-inf)#:ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
BUT I DONT KNOW THE ADDRESS IN THIS COMMAND , MAY BE I TYPE HIGHEST ADDRESS IS x.x.x.1 BTU WHEN I TYPE THE SERIAL PORT OR ETHERNET THE SAME WITH OVERLAPS SO I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO
I NEED THE HELPS FROM EVERYBODY

the first is: sh run | begin router
the second is: sh ip int brief
reason i ask for these is i can guess that the loopback address is using a real local network ip address and your trying to use that same address on the ethernet interface.. if you must use that address u can put an unnumbered address on the ethernet interface borrowing the address from the loopback
example:
RouterA(config)# int e0
RouterA(config-if)# ip unnumbered loopback 0
also if doing that assign the loopback with a 255.255.255.255 subnet mask

mikej412 Member Posts: 10,086 ■■■■■■■■■■Not sure what you're asking about.
You can jump directly to the Forcing the Router ID Choice with a Loopback Interface section of darkuser's link -- if that's what you were asking.
As for assigning a loopback IP address -- its just another interface. Assign it an IP address that doesn't conflict with any other IP address on your router or network.
If you want to create a loopback address to simulate another network to use for OSPF routing practice, give it something other than a 255.255.255.255 subnet mask.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set!
