NetG courses

In the Navy we have an online training program called NETG training programs. I have recieved certificates for completing these courses from my Qualification and Educational Advisor on board my ship. Do you think I should include these in my portfolio that I bring to interviews?

It can't hurt. A lot of employers see military experience and education as a plus....

I don't know if I would. It depends on if the person you're showing them to is firmiliar with the training. I get free NetG training through my employer and I've taken a couse on every certification exam I've taken. I'd say the training is extremely subpar. It only gives a brief over view of what is actually encompassed in the actual exams. If I were interviewing someone and they brought me print outs of the certifications obtained from NetG, I don't know how it would make me feel about them. I might feel that they were very green or trying to look like they know more than they actually do.

Also keep in mind that you can get the certificate without actually acquiring good scores on the exams in NetG.

but thats just my two cents

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree here. My employer also provides the Thompson NetG courses and they aren't very good in comparison to other study materials. I prefer to buy my own materials and use them (and my exam fees) on my income tax as educational expenses than use the free stuff my employer offers.

Also one of the reasons I ask are these are not the traditional NETG courses but rather have been developed by the Navy and they include your score and are a certificate of completion from the Naval Education and Training Command. I mean they look offical to me?

They also offer advanced classes in CCNA and CCNP.

take the classes.. i have used them and find something of value in all cbts except career academy which sucks (instructor constantly suttering like he doesn't know his sh$!) .. i have used them on the NP track and have found them to fit almost to letter with the cisco press book
