Flash is Too Full

Could someone please let me know for sure how to update the flash on a Switch (2900 series) when there is not enough room available, i.e how to remove old Flash to copy a new one and boot from that.
I have heard different opinions which are all very confusing ??

I had to do this with my 2520. Boot to ROM mode and erase flash.
Change the confreg back to 0x2102
rommon 1 > confreg 0x2102
rommon 2 > reset
This will take you to boot mode. From here you can assign an interface with an IP address and use TFTP to download the new IOS. -
