Ricka182 Member Posts: 3,359It may be a good cause, but the "fact" that it doesn't affect performance is to be debated. This uses the same as the SETI project, unused CPU cycles to do whatever the project is for....I've tried both before, and I've seen noticable slow downs, and quite a bit of freezing. Maybe because I tweak the crap out of every setting and overclock like crazy, but once I remove those programs, everything works fine again......i remain, he who remains to be....

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,088 AdminI spent 4.5 years and 36,000+ work units crunching SETI@Home. The S@H client could be adjusted to be as aggressive about eating CPU cycles as you felt you machine's performance could tolerate. I downloaded the Folding@Home client several years ago, but I didn't play with it long enough to see how well it ran. Maybe I'll give it another try.
