Sybex Chapter Question
Daniel333
Hey, of the questions in the back of chapter 1 in the Sybex CCNA book, I got this question wrong.
"This layer uses service access points..."
The answer is the LLC, but why? I cannot find the term "access points" in refering to the OSI layer.
Anyhelp or linkies?

Service access points are just where one layer requests the services of another. the Lammle book is massively overkill in many places, that being one of them. It's still handy to know if you want the CCNP/CCIE though.

given that wikipedia referance, i still don't see how I was supposed to know. llc
take with salt and move on?

Yeah. Like I said, some of the stuff that Lamlee says is a little "out there" with regards to what will actually be on the CCNA exam(s). When I was taking the INTRO exam I realized that I'd vastly over prepared for the test by memorizing much of the stuff Lamlee talks about. It's good stuff to know but stuff like that isn't going to flunk you on the CCNA exam. I think of it as good background material for when I start on the CCNP
