The .NET Framework 3.0 was officially released on November 21, 2006. Although this release sees an increase in .NET's major version number, it's really just a superset of functionality added to .NET 2.0, making it more of a .NET 2.1 release. See the .NET 3.0 Readme page for more details,
You can download the .NET Framework 3.0 components here for Windows Server 2003 (SP1), Windows XP (SP2), and Windows Vista systems that already have .NET 2.0 installed:

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,094 AdminI didn't have a problem installing .NET 3.0 on my systems at work, but on my home system the update wanted to uninstall my SQL Server 2005 development environment, so I aborted it. I've never installed a beta of WinFx on my home system, but some of its components might have snuck on in a SQL Server 2005 update.
