Virtual Server 2005

Who's using Virtual Server 2005 for their labs?

I'm just wondering, instead of using multiple machines and wasting time for the installs, is this just as effective for setting up GPO's, managing shares, using DFS and RIS installations?

What about the client side for testing permissions/home-Profiles/and GPO's?

Using Differencing Disks and sysprep it takes me about 5 - 10 mins to set up a new VM in Virtual Server.

I use it for my test lab and I haven't had any problems. with a high end processor and 2 gigs of ram I have my AD, my EX2007, and my Sharepoint boxes running on it and it really is great for just testing.

Heck I know some companies that actually use virtual servers for real life production servers.

I prefer VMWare over Virtual Server. It has more features.

I don't care for virtual servers in general, although I see their usefulness. I agree with VMWare being better than MS Virtual Server.

I also agree VMware wins, but the simplicity of Virtual PC makes it ideal for students/beginners. Besides preparing for exams, it's ideal for running betas.

VMWare has a free server and they also have pre-built appliances that you can download. Very sweet.

We use ESX servers running on RedHat in our corporate environment and I think we currently have about 26 virtual servers running in our production environment.
