brainbench?
sharptech
I am going to be doing some linux tests through brainbench and wanted to know if anyone has taken these:
Linux Administration (General)
Linux Bash Shell Scripting
If so - how are these tests, good materials for them etc.. - thanks!

"Brainbench" is quite new to me. I found an article on their Linux cert.

I am not sure of its credit. Anyway, for understanding basics of Linux I prefer O'reilly publications;

The company is using these tests just to see how I am coming along in Linux. The final certification I will be taking is RHCE.
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Ive not taken the brainbench linux exams, but with that being said i still would not feel like it could in any way compare to the Red Hat exams.
The brainbench is multiple choice questions given over the internet (which would allow you to look answers up) and the RHCE is lab based if im not mistaken.
Basically what im trying to say is just because you do really well on the brainbench does not indicate doing well for the RHCE.
If they will pay for it start with linux+ or the LPI route.

I know what you mean. I think they are doing the brainbench as a basic concept material - to see if I know some stuff - they are really preparing me for the RCHE which is in fact lab based.

The Brainbench exams have a much tighter time constraint which pretty much excludes looking up answers while you are taking the exam. I think Brainbench exams are used primarily by employers for the useage Sharptech described. For that purpose, they aren't bad exams.
