Do the practice questions at the end of each chapter, and check the tech exams Cisco forums (read all of them, you pick up stuff from even the CCIE ones) every day. The Lammle book is written as if the reader has zero understanding of networking concepts, so it should be good for the beginner. It's only $50, which is a pretty good price given how thorough the book is.CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA

I have postponed my CCNA until June due to financial difficulties plus it gives me the chance to study up before I take the exam
I am going to invest in a CCNA book this friday
