Quick question: I was thinking about getting a Cisco IDS/IPS box for my home lab. I been looking on Ebay and have found a few.
Now, can I run the Cisco IDS/IPS software on any computer? I saw a Dell 1u blade being sold as a Cisco IDS/IPS....

People have gotten the 4.x software to run on certain motherboards/NICS with some software tweaks (google FrankenIDS). I haven't heard of anyone getting the 5.x version to work outside of an official IDS/IPS Appliance.

Just started this course and seeing as it's a Linux Kernel it would make sense it could be migrated to other platforms. Bears pondering...yes...deep pondering in a pondersome way....

I being working for 5 days and probably 20 hours of sleep, after 7CD 2 DVD, 30 reinstalls, Im running 5.1 on my PC, im porting it to vmware be i think is more hard that I think...
