Took the one exam route. Got an 879...not terrrific, but well earned!
The sims's SUCKED! I will second the post that stated to type slowly, you'll save yourself frustration. As far as ? and tab, tab worked most of the time. ? worked unless you are asked for a show command or similar, then you HAVE to know the command. Advice: Watch your time on the sim's, one ate about 12 minutes (yes, my own ignorance was the cause!). I blew two of the sim's and still managed to pass.
Tips:
know your subnetting, this'll help if you blow the sims (you won't be wasting time figuring them out)
know rip well!
know your show commands, well!
know the differences between the routing protocols (ospf, eigrp, igrp, rip)
read the acl's carefully, escpecially what ranges are stand/ext
I didn't have a lot of frame/isdn questions...too bad...I hit those pretty hard
I've taken several MS exams and I have to say that this test was more challenging for me at least comming from a time management standpoint. I got sucked into a sim, and blew more time that I care to admit. I used flash cards extensively so I could recall the theory quickly, and that's what helped me make up time!
Thanks all for sharing your experiences and advice. This cert is certainly earned in my opinion.
