Discrepancies With NTFS Permissions

I have 3 references that I am using for what is allowed for each of the NTFS permissions, and none of them seem to match. I have the Exam Cram 2 book, my noted from another book (can't remember the name), and the notes from this site. For instance, this site says that write includes permissions from read (along with some others), but the other 2 sources don't. Has anyone else notices this, or is it that the other sources took it as common knowledge that write would include read permissions?

Listed on this site: Modify includes read, write and allows executing files. Is this not the same as Read & execute and write?
