Windows XP Harware Requirement Conundrum

Hello everybody, I don't know if this question is silly but here it goes.
I have been studying for the 70-270 for a while, and only now I noticed that there's a little discrepancy with the hardware requirement for installing WinXP.
The problem is that in some places it states that you need at least 1.5 GB and 650 MB of Hard Disk Space to install Windows XP, and in some other places it states that it's 2GB instead.
I went to the WinXP home page, and it states that it's 1.5, but the Resource Kit Documentation states that it's 2 GB.
Does anybody know why is there a conflict? Or there's actually none Thanks for the help!!

The link for WinXP Home page is:

I cannot find the Hardware Requirement section for the RKD online.

the smaller requirement ( I think its 650-900mb depending on install options) is for upgrading XP from a previous Windows install.
