monitor problems

when ever i switch user accounts my monitor goes blank. the green monitor light stays lit...and even wen i unplug the monitor cable from the system it still stays green..(it should be orange) anyways i have to unplug the monitor and then turn off the monitor power switch and wen i turn it on again the light is orange i plug the connection and everything is normal....i reduced the refresh rate and changed the resolution but it still happens....any ideas....or do i need a new monitor....any help would be great..

Whenever you switch between user accounts in Windows XP or Linux? What operating system and video card are you using?

I've heard of this happening before, so it's not uncommon. I didn't see anything on google about it so I'll keep looking. Perhaps the other user account is set to a higher resolution(if that's possible)? Might try going into safe mode and checking.
