How different are 298 and 299?

I just received the books for both of these exams and was wondering how similar the content is between the 2 exams.
I know they are in different formats, but was was wondering if there is a lot of overlap between these 2 exams/topics.

They are my last 2 I need for my MCSE, and I have any time free time I'll do 1 more for the security specialization. I start coaching in 2 weeks and my free time is about to go to nill.

Also, any recommendations about a good practice testing software?
