Net Send
Vask3n
Hello everyone, havent been on these forums for a while, hope everyone's doing good.
I just had a quick question about a command that I read about. Net Send has the ability to use an asterisk to denote sending a message to "all" hosts on a network. However, does this truly mean
all
hosts, or just the ones in the same VLAN/Subnet, since Net Send * wll be a broadcast?
Thanks

It will send the message to all computers in your domain or workgroup. It uses netbios to accomplish this, so it simply uses the asterisk to replace typing every netbios name on the domain/workgroup.

This was big with NT, now with XP the service (messenger) is disabled.

That was so much fun back in my school days, until someone started sending messages to the net administrator.
